Lucy and Will celebrated a winter New Year’s Eve wedding at St Pierre, with relaxed portraits around the grounds, black-tie styling, champagne beneath the illuminated stone archway and a packed dance floor. I even gave one of my spare cameras to a bridesmaid after the speeches, with brilliantly funny results.
A Military Wedding at St Pierre: Ellenor and Huw
Ellenor and Huw’s military wedding began with a ceremony at St Tewdrics Church in Mathern, followed by a uniformed guard of honour and two lively confetti moments. Their celebration continued at St Pierre with relaxed portraits around the castle, speeches, their first dance and an evening photograph beneath the illuminated stone archway.

St Pierre has characterful indoor areas and sheltered stone architecture that work beautifully in wet weather. Because I know the venue, I can adjust the photography plan quickly and use short dry spells without keeping you away from your guests.
How long do couple photographs take at St Pierre?
I normally spend around 10–15 minutes on relaxed couple portraits, with an optional short trip outside again near sunset. There is no long posing session, it’s a wedding, not a photoshoot.
