I’m Carl, a South Wales wedding photographer covering Bridgend and the surrounding area. I photograph weddings as they naturally happen, stepping in with simple direction when it helps and keeping couple portraits to around 10–15 minutes.
You will not spend your wedding day being moved from pose to pose. I concentrate on the nerves before the ceremony, the laughter, reactions, hugs, speeches and the people who matter to you. Family photographs are organised efficiently, then you can get back to your guests.
It’s a wedding, not a photoshoot. My job is to give you an honest, beautiful record of the day without taking you away from it.

A real Coed-y-Mwstwr wedding in Bridgend
I photographed Amy and Nathan’s wedding at Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel in Coychurch, just outside Bridgend. The venue’s wooded grounds, country-house setting and views towards the Vale give plenty of variety without needing to disappear for a long portrait session.
That is important to the way I work. We can use the grounds for a short set of relaxed portraits, keep family photographs close to the main celebration and watch for another five minutes of good light later in the day. If the weather changes, the house and covered areas give us alternatives instead of forcing the timetable.
The Coed has continued to develop its wedding spaces, including The Folly in its secret garden and the Hendre Suite with its terrace. Venue details can change, so always confirm the latest ceremony options and capacity directly with the team.
Wedding venues in and around Bridgend
Bridgend sits between Cardiff and Swansea, with country houses, parkland and the Glamorgan Heritage Coast all close by. These four local venues offer very different settings.
Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch
A Victorian country house on a wooded hillside with gardens, countryside views and several ceremony and reception spaces. It suits couples who want a secluded country-house atmosphere while remaining close to Bridgend and the M4. I have photographed a complete wedding here, so I know how to keep portraits close to the celebrations.

Court Colman Manor, Pen-y-Fai
Court Colman combines Georgian architecture with six acres of gardens, a Victorian rose walk and a waterfall. Its different reception suites allow the venue to accommodate intimate days as well as larger celebrations. The gardens give useful portrait options near the reception, while the manor provides character indoors if it rains.

Bryngarw House
Bryngarw House began as a 15th-century farmhouse and now sits within extensive parkland. The house, lawns and surrounding trees create a polished but relaxed setting, with plenty of greenery close to the venue. It is also managed with a strong focus on sustainability and protecting the surrounding landscape.

The Great House is a historic stone hotel in Laleston that works particularly well for smaller, more intimate weddings. Exclusive-use options, accommodation and a compact layout help the day feel private and easy to manage. Couples can marry and celebrate in one place without asking guests to travel between locations.

Bridgend wedding photography and film
Photography captures individual moments. Film brings back voices, movement, laughter and the parts of the day you may not have seen. If you choose the combined collection, I photograph your wedding while Gareth films alongside me. Because we work closely together, the coverage stays coordinated and relaxed rather than feeling like two separate teams competing for your attention.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Bridgend wedding photographer cost?
My full-day wedding photography collection is £1,500. Photography and film together is £2,500. Optional extras include a pre-wedding photoshoot, wedding album and second photographer. All current prices are shown clearly on my pricing page.
How long do you stay on the wedding day?
I normally arrive around two hours before the ceremony when preparations are at the venue, or around three hours beforehand when they are elsewhere. Coverage continues through the speeches, cake cutting, first dance and into the evening party, normally until around 10pm.
How long do couple photographs take?
Usually around 10–15 minutes after the ceremony, with the option of another brief session later if the light is particularly good. You receive proper portraits without missing most of your drinks reception.
What happens if it rains?
Rain changes the plan, not the story. I check indoor and sheltered locations, keep an eye on the forecast and use short breaks in the weather when they appear. You do not need to stand outside for an hour to create strong photographs.
When will we receive our photographs?
You will receive a preview of around 30–50 photographs within 1–7 days. Your complete edited gallery is normally delivered through Pic-Time within 7–10 weeks.
Do you cover weddings outside Bridgend?
Yes. I photograph weddings throughout South Wales, including Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, the Vale of Glamorgan and the Brecon area. Travel within my normal South Wales coverage is included.
How do we secure our date?
Your date is secured once the agreement is signed and the £200 booking fee has been paid. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding, and everything can be completed online.
