How To Choose The Best South Wales Wedding Photographer

Are you planning to get married in South Wales?

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life. It’s an exciting time and there are so many things to think about and get organised for the big day.

Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the first things a newly engaged couple does when they first decide to get married.

I’ve written this list of questions to help couples who are planning a wedding in South Wales (which covers Gwent, Mid-Glamorgan, South Glamorgan and West Glamorgan). This is written from my point of view as a professional wedding photographer.

How do you choose the best wedding

photographer for your special day?

There are a number of different things to consider when thinking about which is the best wedding photographer for you.

First of all, it’s a good idea for you to set a budget for your wedding photography. The average cost of a UK wedding photographer in the UK is around £1200 although this varies significantly depending on their experience, the packages and location.

Secondly, it’s worth checking out the photographer’s portfolio to see how many weddings they’ve covered and what is their general style. You get an idea from this whether their style suits you as a couple and her experience as the photographer is.

Thirdly, I would recommend taking a look at the wedding photographer’s social media. You can see from this how active they are and have a look at some of the venues that they may have covered weddings at in South Wales.

Finally, I would book a time for a chat with a photographer either to meet in person or to have a phone or video call. This is a great way to ask questions about their approach and find out if there is a good fit between you and the photographer.

What are the benefits of hiring

a professional wedding photographer?

Professional wedding photographers have a wealth of experience and know-how to take the best shots. They will help you create beautiful memories for you and your guests to treasure. It is true that anybody can take a picture but not everyone can take a great picture. Your wedding will be made up of hundreds and hundreds of different photographs and you can rely on a professional photographer to be on hand to capture those special moments.

How do I choose the best

South Wales Wedding Photographer?

There is no one definitive answer when it comes to choosing the right wedding photographer for your South Wales wedding. A couple should consider their budget, what types of photography they are interested in and whether or not they have any specific ideas about the type of photos they would like to take. Ultimately, a good South Wales wedding photographer will be able to offer creative suggestions that fit both the bride and groom’s expectations.

Where do couples get married in South Wales?

There are so many stunning wedding venues in South Wales – from traditional hotels to barn conversions and tipi weddings. You are split for choice as South Wales covers cities like Cardiff and towns such as Swansea, Newport and Bridgend.

Here are a few of my favourite venues:

  1. Hensol Castle – The Vale Resort’s wedding and conference site, Hensol Castle, is a castellated palace in the gothic architecture style dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It lies in the hamlet of Pendoylan in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, north of Clawdd Coch and Tredodridge.

  2. Llechwen Hall Hotel – is one of the best-kept secrets in the heart of the Cynon Valley, set on a lovely hilltop setting with magnificent views of the Welsh countryside. Llechwen Hall Hotel is a converted 17th-century Welsh longhouse that is located 0.8 miles from Whitehall Golf Course and 6 miles from Pontypridd.

  3. Lakeside Venue – is a one-of-a-kind wedding and event location. With this unique setting, private lake & gardens, free parking, exclusive use, and totally bespoke Grand Marquee, set on the rolling hills of the Welsh Valleys, Lakeside Venue really really is a hidden gem! Packages are tailored to the needs of each individual and up to 350 people can be accommodated. For any and all events, Lakeside is the ideal location for celebrating significant occasions.
